PAA Endorses Artists Against Apartheid!

[23/07/25 IG Repost]

We are proud to announce our endorsement of the Artists Against Apartheid call & sign-on to their statement of principles, and we urge all artists & culture workers to sign on as well!

We have been inspired by AAA’s powerful organising & aim to find more ways to support their global campaigns. Check out their website & download free materials from their ‘Art Action Toolkit’ to distribute in your area, or submit art to their ongoing campaigns such as the ICE OUT OF OUR COMMUNITIES campaign that draws the links between settler-colonial violence from Palestine to Mexico to all of Turtle Island.

Or if you’re a punky type, check out our free art & materials on our website & sign up to join our scrappy global movement. Or sign on to both! We need all hands on deck, so we can’t afford to be precious about where we get involved. The point is to GET INVOLVED IN THE FIRST PLACE!

So in the spirit of the anti-apartheid boycott against Sun City in the 1980’s, we shout:

DON’T ASK ME TEL AVIV, CAUSE I AIN’T GONNA PLAY!

Slide Text:

Slide 1: PUNKS AGAINST APARTHEID X ARTISTS AGAINST APARTHEID

Slide 2: Punks Against Apartheid is proud to announce our endorsement of the international Artists Against Apartheid (AAA) call!

But by endorsing the AAA call today, in 2025, we are looking for more than symbolic alignment or convenient nostalgia. At a time when ‘music as resistance’ is more needed than ever, what we need are not just good origin stories or even clever names, but renewed vigour in our organising & an eye for the long-term survival of our movements. So in the spirit of those radical ancestors (and our inspiring contemporaries!), what we really aim to do with our endorsement is to formalise and extend our commitment to AAA’s vision of large-scale BDS that crosses the divide between (sub-) cultural organising & radical mass politics.

Slide 3: We will always be down with anyone who is down with liberation. Now is the time to strike together, all at once, at the genocidal menace & create the decolonial future we all believe in & deserve! We look forward to celebrating some day with all of our comrades across the audio-visual & performing arts when Palestine is finally truly free of the settler-colonial yoke. Until then, we will never stop singing, tagging, painting, shouting together: FREE PALESTINE & END ALL APARTHEIDS!
