Dissect Joins PAA!

[24/08/25 IG Repost]

We are so excited to announce that Dissect @dissecthxc , a hardcore d-beat punk band based in so-called ‘Sydney’, has joined Punks Against Apartheid!

The connections between settler colonial nations run deep in our modern dystopia, and the lines between the historical genocide perpetrated by ‘Australia’ & its contemporary complicity in the destruction of indigenous peoples worldwide have been laid bare by radical movements for all to see. Today the transfer of weapons and guileless diplomatic cover continue to extend direct support for the genocide in Palestine, as settler colonial nations fall in line over 22 months in to this most recent genocide to support the Zionist Entity, flinging themselves over a cliff in their rabid willingness to self-destruct the very ‘rules-based order’ they so bloodily created out of centuries of ethnic cleansing and displacement.

We do not mourn them, because their pathetic sovereignty does not extend to our minds or our hearts. The free peoples of the world know better. We have our eyes on future which we aim to being nearer with every step, every action, every word. As Dissect says: WITHIN OUR LIFETIMES, we will see the sparks of change bloom into a glorious worldwide shift of power as the génocidaires keep on losing their grip on reality.

Stay focused. And FREE PALESTINE!!!!

Slide 1: Image with a faded kuffiyeh pattern in the background overlaid with text & image blocks. On top, it reads ‘Announcing!’ diagonally overlaid in white on a black strip, and below, two circular logos outlined in white on their own black strip. The one on the left depicts a violet coloured snake in a circle with the stencil text DISSECT overlaid. The one on the right is the Punks Against Apartheid logo, which shows a fist with a spikey bracelet punching through the apartheid wall & the text ‘PUNKS AGAINST APARTHEID’ around the circle’s edge.

Slide 2: Dissect is a queer & brown (including those with roots in Palestine & the Global South) hardcore punk band based on unceded, sovereign Gadigal, Bidjigal & Dharug lands. We are familiar with marginalisation and ostracisation in our personal lives and our communities. For us, punk is about being uncompromising. Why would you play on the same bill as zionists, even if you are not aligned with that ideology? Why would you latch onto indifference and neutrality despite yelling loud about your anger at ‘the system’? Why avoid discomfort?

Slide 3: We profit off genocide both in this colony and in occupied Palestine. Our tax-payer dollars are used to invest into war machinery. Our communities laugh and downplay racism — or the opposite, where they take up space that isn’t theirs to take — or avoid accountability and hard discussions beyond angry words and aggressive song lyrics. We have to change this culture of passivity. Words without actions mean nothing.

Slide 4: Joining the BDS movement is an accessible way for everyone to get involved, to hit the zionist apartheid project where it hurts — we have to make Israel a bad investment. Dissect is committed to calling out zionism when we see it. We are committed to the struggle for land back. We are committed to being active accomplices, not allies, in dismantling the systems that hurt us. And we call for a free Palestine, from the river to the sea, and refuse to collaborate or support any artist or network that neglects this cause for justice. Within our lifetimes, Dissect
